Nagarkot / Dhulikhel Hiking 

These treks have been designed for people with less time or for those not wishing to travel too far outside of the Kathmandu Valley. It’s not always easy walking but generally so, however the treks are at low altitude compared to many other treks in Nepal. All of the treks mentioned provide an insight into Nepali village life as well as offering some wonderful vistas of the Himalayas including a distant view of Everest.

Nagarkot to Dhulikhel Day Hiking is probably one of the most exciting best day hiking in Kathmandu. The best hiking trail in the Kathmandu valley is filled with exotic forest and offers glamorous views of the Himalayas and traditional hamlets. The Nagarkot Dhulikhel hiking expedition takes you to the alluring hill station of Nagarkot and Dhulikhel to witness the magnificent views of the Himalayas.

Nagarkot is an absolutely exquisite site that lies in Bhaktapur district and is about 30 Kilometers away from Kathmandu. Nagarkot is rather famous as a view point to view the stunning views of sunrise and sunset. Towering at an elevation of 2195 meters, it is one of the most loved travel sites of Bhaktapur. Nagarkot offers superb views of Annapurna range, Manaslu range, Ganesh himal range, Langtang range, Jugal range, Rolwaling range, Everest range and Numbur range.

Dhulikhel is another popular tourist destinations of Kavre District. Dhulikhel carries with it a majestic beauty of nature and numerous cultural and natural heritages. Dhulikhel offers finest panoramic views of snowcapped mountains and scenic landscapes. The mountains look like they are floating in the air when the blue haze covers the lower portion of the mountains. Dhulikhel is a paradise for tourists and nature lovers. The scenic view of beautiful mountains, hills filled with green vegetation, open landscapes etc make it a most admirable tourist destination. The different vantage point of Dhulikhel offers breathtaking view of Himalayas including Mt. Annapurna (8091 m), Mt. Ganesh Himal (7429 m), Mt. Langtang (7234 m), Mt. Phuribichyachu (6637 m), Mt. Gaurishanker (7134 m), Mt. Lhotse (8516 m) and many others. Nagarkot hiking is suitable for childrens as well.

Day 01 : Drive to Nagarkot & hike to Dhulikhel passing over Rhonnie Bhanjyang, Kankre, Tanchok. Admire the Himalayan view from the Dhulikhel hilltop then drive back to Kathmandu.

Drive to Nagarkot then start the hike at first passing through pine forest alongside road head with occasional encounter with wildlife. You hike past beautiful countryside, villages (especially of Tamang community), small tea-shops, farmlands etc. The trail passes along Rhonnie Bhanjyang, Kankre, Tanchok witnessing majestic panorama of the mountains like Gauri Shankhar, Dorje Lhakpa. Soon, Dhulikhel is reached and admire majestic Himalayan views and the valley below from it’s hilltop. Afterwards, drive back to Kathmandu.

We operate Nagarkot to Dhulikhel Hiking Day Tour daily with your personal guide so that you don’t have to confront with other people who might have different interests or attitudes. To keep our tours private and comfortable we limit our groups with 10 people per guide. Please contact us if you have a bigger group and we will arrange several guides for you depending on group size.

Vehicle we use for Nagarkot Dhulikhel Hiking
We use comfortable car/mini-van for the transfers. For up to 2 people, car is provided and mini-van is for the group of 3-10 people.

Nagarkot Dhulikhel Day Hiking Tour duration
The total tour duration is about 6-7 hours. After breakfast, your guide will meet you at the hotel and drive to the hike-start-point. It’s approximately 5 hours hike to reach Dhulikhel from Nagarkot.

Clothing for the Hike from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel
Clothing varies with the type of tour and season. It’s warm in Kathmandu from April to October-end and from November to March-end, days are usually warm but evening colder. Summer clothes are okay during the day time but the evening requires a light jackets. Winter is from December till February so bring along sufficient winter wears like jcketas, sweaters, trousers etc. Or you can purchase clothes of your choice in Kathmandu clothing stores too.

During the Nagarkot to Dhulikhel Hiking, light clothes and good walking shoes are recommended. But pack along a light jacket too as it might get cold at the hilltop.

Packed lunch can be arranged as per your preferred meals during the hiking program. Upon reaching the required destination, enjoy your packed lunch observing the beautiful landscapes and the surrounding mountains.
